Storm Chasers June 10th Game Notes

June 10, 2013 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1) - Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

YESTERDAY'S WIN: The Storm Chasers notched their second shutout of the season, and first at Werner Park this year, to take the series finale with the Oklahoma City RedHawks by a score of 7-0. Both shutouts for the Storm Chasers this year have been started with four innings by Everett Teaford, and the left-hander has not lost a start in 13 consecutive outings dating back to the beginning of the 2011 season. The shutout was the seventh in the two plus years of Werner Park's existence.

DUFFY REHAB: Left-hander Danny Duffy is making his first appearance for Omaha as a part of his MLB Rehab (he made three starts in late May-early June for Double-A Northwest Arkansas) and his ninth career appearance in the PCL. In 42 innings of Triple-A action with Omaha (all in the 2011 season), Duffy has struck out 48 batters, good for a 10.29 strikeout per nine innings ratio. In his Minor League career (including this season with the Naturals) Duffy has a 10.53 K/9 IP (422 K in 360.2 innings).

OMAHA VS NASHVILLE: The Storm Chasers have won their most games against any one opponent with six victories in eight games against the Sounds this season, pushing the all-time series to 113-104 (one of five current PCL teams they have an all- time winning record against). The Sounds are the only team Omaha has played more than one series with that has not included postponements or suspensions in 2013.

STARTERS SETTLING DOWN: In the first 19.0 innings for Omaha starters this month, they gave up a combined 19 runs in four starts. In the last four starts, the Chasers starting staff has allowed five runs in 19.1 total innings.

JOHNNY DOUBLES : Johnny Giavotella notched his 18th double in 61 games (counting his double from the suspended game on June 8) in yesterday's win, one of eight players in the PCL with 18 doubles. Clint Robinson tied the Omaha record for doubles at 37 last year, but Gio's 18 two-baggers are one ahead of Robinson's 17 doubles in his first 61 games last season.

SAY HAYES KID: A fourth-inning walk Friday extended Brett Hayes' on-base streak to 17 games, tied for the second longest streak this season for a Storm Chasers batter in 2013 (the longest streak was Anthony Seratelli's 20-game streak from May 10 to June 1). During the streak, Hayes is hitting .304 (17-for-56) with seven of his 12 walks this season (he has extended the streak in three games with a walk and no hits).
