Tri-City Storm News Release
Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm capped off a weekend sweep of Madison with a 3-0 shutout victory at the Viaero Center. Filip Larsson denied all 27 shots from Madison to secure his league leading fourth shutout of the season. The Storm got 2nd period goals from Johnny McDermott, Brian Hawkinson, and Charlie Dovorany. All three scored their fourth goal of the season in tonight's win.
The first period went by without a goal or a penalty from either team. Madison outshot Tri-City 12 to 8 in the first period but would not be able to sustain the offensive pressure through the course of the game. The Storm started fast in the 2nd period with two goals in the first four minutes. Johnny McDermott scored an unassisted goal at 2:02 to open the scoring on Saturday afternoon at the Viaero Center. The second goal of the game came just over a minute later when Brian Hawkinson scored his fourth of the season, assisted by Ronnie Attard. Tri-City would add to the offensive outbreak later in the period when Johnny McDermott setup Charlie Dovorany for his fourth goal of the season with under 2 minutes to play in the period.
Storm defenseman Jace Foskey and Capitols forward Alec Broetzman briefly dropped the gloves near the end of the 2nd period and were both given 10 minute misconducts for the fight. After neither team was able to score in the 3rd period, Tri-City skated away with another home victory. The Storm are now 14-4 overall and have won eight of nine home games. Madison fell to 6-10-0-1 with the loss.
