Storm Battle Omaha Following Overtime Win over Sioux City

Kearney, NE. - The Tri-City Storm battle the Omaha Lancers tonight in a rivalry game matchup at the Viaero Center. Last night, Tri-City notched a thrilling come from behind victory on home ice against the Sioux City Musketeers. Trailing late in the third period, Tyler Madden scored his 10th goal of the season to force overtime between the Storm and Musketeers. Connor McMenamin scored his 3rd goal of the season in overtime to seal the victory for Tri-City.

Tri-City (18-7-0-1) enters tonight's game in 2nd place in the USHL standings. The Storm have now won back to back games in overtime at the Viaero Center and have improved to 10-3 on home ice. Tonight's game will be the 5th matchup of the season between the Storm and the Lancers. The two teams have split the season series thus far with two wins each. In the four prior games this season between Tri-City and Omaha, the Lancers have outscored the Storm 9-7 in those contests.
Omaha (15-8-2-0) is currently in 6th place in the USHL standings. The Lancers are ranked 5th in the Western Conference and won the last contest between the two teams by a final score of 3-1 back on December 8th. The Lancers are the only team in the USHL this season to defeat the Tri-City Storm more than once in regulation time. Cole Gallant leads the team in points (23), and Filip Suchy is the Lancers leader in goals scored (11) entering tonight's game. Zach Driscoll and Vincent Purpura have started the majority of games in goal this season for Omaha. Driscoll (7-4-1-0) leads the team in Goals Against Average (1.91.) and Save Percentage (.926). Purpura has a 6-1-1 record and a 2.02 GAA on the season. Omaha has won 12 of the last 15 games.
Tri-City continues to be led in scoring by Tyler Madden, who scored the game tying goal in last night's 3rd period to force overtime against Sioux City. Madden has now scored 4 goals since joining the team last week following a trade with Central Illinois on December 11th. He is the team leader in goals (10) and points (18). Tyler Ward and Connor McMenamin are also among the team leaders in points for the Storm this season. Ward has registered 17 on the season, and McMenamin has provided 16 to the Storm offense. Bryan Yoon continues to lead the team in assists with 14 on the season. In last night's game, two Tri-City players put their names on the scoresheet for the first time this season. Defenseman Jack Summers broke through with his first goal of the year and 2nd of his USHL career in last night's 2nd period. Summers also added two assists later in the game and was a huge part in the Storm's come from behind win. Forward Noah Weber notched his first assist of the 2017-2018 season last night, assisting on Jack Summers' 2nd period tally. Weber returned from the injured reserve last week and skated in his 5th game of the season last night. Storm goalie Jake Barczewski recorded his 4th victory of the season and improved to 4-3-0-1 in the victory. Barczewski is expected to start his 7th consecutive game tonight in net for Tri-City.
