New London, CT (May 29th, 2002)- Mohegan Wolves Offensive/Defensive Lineman Brandon Stoker has been named Built Ford Tough Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2002 af2 season by the af2 league offices.

Stoker earned Built Ford Tough honors for his performance against the New Haven Ninjas Friday night. The rookie lineman recorded 2 tackles and 2 sacks as well as forcing the game winning fumble in his first action with the Wolves. Stoker played roughly two series on defense, which was about ten total plays. Those ten plays may turn out to be the most productive of the season for the Wolves. His forced fumble was recovered by teammate Chris Smith and returned 40 yards for a touchdown, giving the Wolves a 36-30 overtime victory, and snapping a 4 game losing streak.

Brandon was not only fighting inexperience in his first game with the Wolves, he also has a hearing disability that requires him to wear hearing aids when not on the gridiron. Stoker doesn’t wear his aids when playing, and must rely on reading lips and player movement to compete.

“We really wanted to get Brandon in the game, but we weren’t sure if he was ready. Turns out, we should have got him in the game sooner. He got right in there and mixed it up and made things happen, that’s exactly what we needed,” said Wolves Head Coach Gary Porter.

Brandon and Wolves will host the Ninjas this Friday at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The game will decide where the Constitution Cup, a traveling trophy awarded to the winner of each intra-state match up, will reside for the off-season. The game will also feature World Wrestling Entertainment star Terri. She will be signing autographs on the field after the game.

Tickets are currently available and can be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Box or by calling (860) 862-8000.
