Stockton's Rajala Named Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Toni Rajala of the Stockton Thunder is the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 12-18.
Rajala scored five goals and added six assists for 11 points in four games last week, helping the Thunder improve to 11-4-0 on the season.
The 21-year-old opened the week with five points (1g-4a) in a 9-6 win at Utah on Monday and added a goal in a 4-2 loss at Idaho on Wednesday. He notched three points (1g-2a) in a 6-2 victory against Utah on Friday and ended the week with two goals in a 4-3 win over Idaho on Sunday.
Rajala is on an ECHL season high 11-game point streak dating back to Oct. 20 (11g-12a).
Selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Rajala is tied for the league lead with 11 goals and is fourth with 23 points.
A native of Tampere, Finland, he tallied 56 points (27g-29a) in 116 career games with Ilves Tampere in the SM-liiga and registered 63 points (26g-37a) in 60 games with Brandon of the Western Hockey League in 2009-10.
On behalf of Toni Rajala, a case of pucks will be donated to a Stockton youth hockey organization by Sher-Wood Hockey, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, Sher-Wood Hockey has donated more than 27,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
