NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays are behind 2-0 to the Manchester Monarchs in their Eastern Conference Finals series but have an opportunity to pull closer in the race for the Kelly Cup Monday night in Game 3 at the North Charleston Coliseum. The best-of-seven series will shift to Manchester after Game 3, with the remainder of the matchups taking place in New Hampshire at the SNHU Arena.

Both of the first two games in the series have been decided by one goal with the Monarchs winning Game 1 by a score of 2-1 before securing Game 2, 4-3. Sam Brittain has been the first star in both contests for Manchester, making 21 in Game 1 and 44 stops during Game 2.

FRIDAY: MANCHESTER MONARCHS 2, SOUTH CAROLINA STINGRAYS 1 (North Charleston Coliseum - North Charleston, SC)

Two second period goals and 21 saves by goaltender Sam Brittain got the Manchester Monarchs a 2-1 win over the South Carolina Stingrays in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals at the North Charleston Coliseum on Friday night. Max Nicastro had the only tally of the night for the Rays, while Parker Milner had another solid outing in between the pipes with 25 saves.

SATURDAY: MANCHESTER MONARCHS 4, SOUTH CAROLINA STINGRAYS 3 (North Charleston Coliseum - North Charleston, SC)

For a second straight game, the South Carolina Stingrays got behind early and came up one goal short to the Manchester Monarchs, losing Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals 4-3 on Saturday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Both Marcus Perrier and Rob Flick had a goal and an assist for South Carolina in the defeat, while Joe Devin netted his third tally of the postseason in the final period.

PERRIER BREAKS THROUGH IN GAME 2 Defenseman Marcus Perrier got the offense going for South Carolina in Game 2 against Manchester on Saturday, scoring the first goal of the night for the Rays in the second period. The tally was the Thunder Bay, Ont. native's sixth career playoff goal and his first point of the 2017 postseason. Perrier then added an assist in the third period on a goal by Rob Flick to record his first multi-point playoff game since a 2-goal performance against Florida in 2015.

MILNER SAVING HIS BEST FOR THE POSTSEASON Goaltender Parker Milner has been a rock in between the pipes for South Carolina during the postseason. While starting in all of the Rays' 13 playoff games, Milner has a goals against average of 2.00, a save percentage at 0.925, three shutouts and eight wins. The netminder is among the league leaders in all categories during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native has done his best work at home, allowing just 10 total goals in eight contests at the North Charleston Coliseum for a GAA of 1.25 to go along with a save percentage at 0.957.

CHERNIWCHAN CONTINUES THE STREAK Forward Andrew Cherniwchan has posted points in seven straight games for the Stingrays dating back to Game 1 of the South Division Finals in Florida. The fifth-year pro had at least a point in all five games against the Everblades and has continued his run with assists in the first two games vs. Manchester in the Eastern Conference Finals. Cherniwchan now has 11 points in the postseason (five goals, six assists) while appearing in all 13 playoff games for South Carolina.

NICASTRO GETS ON THE BOARD Defenseman Max Nicastro scored the Stingrays' only goal during Friday's 2-1 loss to the Manchester Monarchs in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The power play tally was Nicastro's first of the postseason in his seventh appearance. It was also just his second career playoff strike, with his only other goal coming with the Toledo Walleye during the 2013 postseason.
