Stingrays Fall to Gladiators in Game 1

Gwinnett, GA - The South Carolina Stingrays (0-1) fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators (1-0) 5-0 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at The Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia Friday night. The Stingrays trail the best-of-seven series 1-0.
Gladiators forward Joey Haddad opened the postseason scoring at 10:47 of the first period lifting a shot over the blocker of Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (L, 25 saves on 30 shots) off the near post.
Forward Scott Arnold made it a two-goal Gladiators lead at the 13:39 mark of the second period slipping a shot under the pads of Zapolski. Moments later, forward Tyler Murovich gave the Gladiators a 3-0 lead. Arnold picked up his second point of the contest with the primary assist. Through two periods, the Gladiators outshot the Stingrays 21-14.
Murovich carried the scoring into the third period with his second tally of the contest at 3:23. Rookie forward Domenic Monardo wrapped up the game scoring with a marker at 14:53. Goaltender Louis Domingue recorded his first professional playoff shutout stopping all 24 Stingrays shots. The Stingrays ended the night 0-for-3 on the power play while the Gladiators went 0-for-2.
The Stingrays and Gladiators battle in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals tomorrow night, Saturday, April 6 at 7:05 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center.
