South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-The South Carolina Stingrays, proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals, have agreed to terms with 2015 ECHL All-Star Olivier Archambault, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Ryan Warsofsky announced today.

"We're excited to have Olivier," said Warsofsky. "He is an offensive, dynamic forward who skates very well. Looking at his numbers, he puts up some big points. We have some key returners, but with Olivier, w e have added a guy to the mix who can score goals, set up plays and help on the power play. He's a guy we are going to look to for a lot of our offensive, and he is another big piece of the puzzle."

Archambault, 23, looks to play a key role in the Stingrays' offensive attack this upcoming season. The talented forward has scored at over a point per game pace in his two seasons in the ECHL while on loan from Iowa of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Montreal, Quebec native led the Quad City Mallards in scoring last season, collecting 52 points (22 goals, 30 assists) in 50 contests. During the 2015-16 season, Archambault earned a six-game call-up to Iowa, and also appeared in four playoff games with the Mallards, notching three points.

"Looking at my contract options with my agent, South Carolina was the number one team on my list," said Archambault. "I have heard really great things from some teammates. I was happy to hear from Coach Ryan Warsofsky and I am excited for the season. I'm an offensive player so I'll look to bring that, but in my first two years pro, I've worked hard on my defensive game. I want to continue getting better and I am excited to be a Stingray."

During his rookie season in 2014-15, Archambault skated with the Alaska Aces, tallying an impressive 38 points (20 goals, 18 assists) in just 38 games. He was named to the ECHL All-Star Game in Orlando, Florida in January 2015 and tallied a pair of goals in the contest. During the 2014-15 season, he also earned a call-up to Iowa where he scored nine points (four goals, five assists) in 24 games.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward was originally drafted by his hometown Montreal Canadiens in the fourth round of the 2011 NHL Draft and skated in 10 games for the Canadiens' AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, in 2013. He was the first overall pick in the 2009 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Draft by Val-d'Or, and finished his junior career with 231 points (100 goals, 131 assists) in 270 games with Val-d'Or, Drummondville, and Quebec.

The Stingrays' 24th season in the Lowcountry starts on October 22. 2016-17 Season Ticket Packages are on sale now featuring discounted pricing and great benefits! For more information, fans may call the Stingrays' offices at 843-744-2248 or visit StingraysHockey.com.
