Sting Sweep 3-Game Weekend
February 1, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Sarnia Sting News Release
The Sarnia Sting were a perfect 3-0-0-0 on the weekend, registering a total of 14 goals and allowing only 5 against. The 6-point weekend leaves the Sting just 5 points back of the Windsor Spitfires for the West Division lead; with two games in hand.
A short-handed Sting roster held on for a 4-3 win over the Flint Firebirds on Friday night at the SSEC. The Sting were without Nikita Korostelev, Troy Lajeunesse, Jakob Chychrun, Jordan Kyrou, Kevin Spinozzi and Alex Black; due to either injury, suspension or the BMO Top Prospects game.
Three of the six players returned on Saturday night as the Sting complete the home-and-home sweep in Flint; downing the oppposition by a score of 5-2 at the Dort Federal Event Center.
The Sting closed out the weekend with a commanding 5-0 win over the Windsor Spitfires at the WFCU Centre. Jordan Kyrou scored twice in the win, and Charlie Graham recorded his first shutout since joining the Sting at the deadline.
