Steve Cruickshank Named Recipient of 2013 Willis of Texas/N. Thomas Berry Commitment Cup

December 17, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

GLENDALE, AZ (December 17, 2013) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that referee Steve Cruickshank has been awarded the 2013 Willis of Texas/N. Thomas Berry Commitment Cup. The award is given each year to a person who has shown great dedication and passion for not only the CHL but the sport of hockey.

"I am very pleased to present this award to Steve (Cruickshank)," said Steve Ryan, CHL Commissioner. "He has shown great leadership towards the officiating staff over his many years with the CHL and off the ice, he has been a great representative and ambassador for the League."

Cruickshank has worked more CHL/WPHL (Western Professional Hockey League) than any other officials beginning his pro career more than 15 years ago. Last February, the Paris, Ontario native was honored by the League and featured in The Hockey News for officiating his 1,000th professional game.

Still a member of the CHL's officiating staff, Cruickshank also assists the League's Hockey Operations Department in scheduling and other official's tasks.

The Commitment Cup is named in honor of the CHL's Commissioner Emeritus and CHL Hall of Fame Member N. Thomas Berry and is presented by Willis of Texas, the Commercial Insurance Provider of the CHL.
