Mississauga Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Steelheads returned to the Hershey Centre after a 12 day lay-off, looking to take advantage of a depleted Generals lineup. Mississauga recorded the first four shots of the game, but Oshawa struck first when Scott Sabourin beat Spencer Martin five hole from below the circle to give the Generals the lead. Scott Laughton extended the Generals lead to two on the power play less than a minute later.

Brian Hughes added a third from in close, before Joe Manchurek scored his first career OHL goal midway through the second period to put the Generals up 4-0. Mississauga began chipping away at the four goal deficit, with Brett Foy scoring his 7th goal of the season at 11:39, with Riley Brace jamming home his 11th goal of the season minutes later.

Early in the third, Spenser Cobbold jumped on a Sam Babintsev rebound to score his 5th goal of the season 1:40 into the third period to bring the Steelheads within a goal. Brace, Foy and Andrew Goldberg all had opportunities to complete the comeback but came up short. That much sought after tying goal eluded Mississauga throughout a 1:31 two-man advantage late in the game, sealing the Steelheads fate.
