February 13, 2017 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Chicago Steel mascot Rusty is celebrating a birthday, and has invited popular Chicagoland mascots to celebrate with him this Sunday afternoon. The United States Hockey League (USHL) matinee, scheduled for a 3:05 p.m. CST faceoff against the Muskegon Lumberjacks, will be highlighted by appearances from Southpaw from the Chicago White Sox (MLB), Sky Guy from the Chicago Sky (WNBA), and Skates from the Chicago Wolves (AHL). Rusty's furry friends will greet and take pictures with fans of all ages throughout the afternoon, and will hit the ice during intermission for a fan-favorite, anything goes, mascot hockey game.

Fans are invited to join in on an arena-wide rendition of "Happy Birthday" for Rusty, while many other fun activities are scheduled for the afternoon. Mascots will participate in a Kiss Cam, and Pin the Tail on the Donkey, while fans will get to compete in a Cake Decoration Contest, Cake Eating Contest, and more.

In addition to Southpaw, Sky Guy, and Skates, other mascots to submit RSVP's for the party include DePaul University's Dibs, Scoopie from Culver's, Supernova from the Chicago Red Stars (NWSL), J.L. Bird from the Joliet Slammers (Frontier League), Wally the Wizard from Enchanted Castle, and the UIC Flames will be bringing Sparky Jr. to join in on the fun. In addition, two knights from Medieval Times will be in attendance and will provide a sword demonstration during intermission.

Sunday marks a Steel Family Pack game - fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas (or waters) and four chuck-a-pucks starting at just $48. Plus, fans can stick around following the game for a full-team post-game autograph session.

The game features two of the top teams in the United States Hockey League. First-place Chicago has been atop the conference standings for most of the season, while Muskegon currently sits just five points back of the Steel entering the weekend. The Steel roster features 22 players with NCAA Division I commitments, multiple players under great consideration for the 2017 NHL Draft, and goaltender Ales Stezka, a fourth-round selection of the Minnesota Wild in the 2015 NHL Draft. Muskegon's roster is highlighted by linemates Collin Adams, a New York Islanders prospect, and Andrei Svechnikov, a candidate for the number one overall selection in the 2018 NHL Draft, as well as Keith Petruzzelli, the top-ranked North American goaltender for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Tickets are on sale now for Sunday's game, as well as six additional remaining 2016-2017 Steel regular season home games. For more information or to purchase tickets, call 855-51-STEEL, stop by the Box Office inside Fox Valley Ice Arena or visit ChicagoSteelHockeyTeam.com.
