Steel Complete Tuesday Trade with Lincoln

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel announced Tuesday that they have acquired a 2016 USHL Phase II Draft 1st Round pick, a 2016 USHL Phase I Draft 4th round pick, the rights to goaltender Tommy Nappier and defenseman Adam Karashik, and future considerations from the Lincoln Stars in exchange for center Tanner Laczynski, defenseman Trevor Hamilton and a 6th round pick in the 2016 USHL Phase I Draft.

Nappier, 17, is a native of St. Louis and currently plays for the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL). The 6-3, 194-pound goaltender is committed to The Ohio State University. Defenseman Adam Karashik, 18, currently plays high school hockey for Avon Old Farms School. The 5-11, 174-pound native of Ridgefield, Conn., is committed to the University of Connecticut. Chicago also receives Lincoln's 1st round pick in this year's USHL Phase II Draft, as well as Muskegon's 4th round selection in this year's USHL Phase I Draft, plus future considerations.

Laczynski, 18, tallied 31 goals and 55 assists in 92 games played for Chicago over the course of three seasons. The Shorewood, Ill. native served as an alternate captain this season for the Steel and is committed to The Ohio State University.

"Tanner was a great representative of our organization and showed tremendous growth during his time in Chicago," said Steel Head Coach Dan Muse. "Based on his ability, character and approach to the game, I'm confident that he will have success at the next level and beyond, in both hockey and life."

Hamilton, 20, was acquired by the Steel in a trade last week with the Muskegon Lumberjacks. The veteran defenseman appeared in two games with Chicago, scoring one goal. Lincoln also receives Tri-City's 2016 USHL Phase I Draft 6th round pick.

Chicago heads west this weekend for games Friday at Sioux City and Saturday at Omaha. The Steel then return home on Friday, Feb. 12 for Steel Your Heart Night against the Musketeers.
