GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel announced Thursday that they have acquired a 2016 USHL Phase I Draft 2nd Round pick and a 2016 USHL Phase II Draft 4th round pick from the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in exchange for left wing Karch Bachman, a 2016 USHL Phase I Draft 6th Round pick and a 2016 USHL Phase II Draft 7th round pick.
The 2016 USHL Phase I Draft (2000 birth year) will take place on Monday, May 2. The 2016 USHL Phase II Draft (1996-2000) occurs Tuesday, May 3.
Bachman, 18, was acquired by the Steel in an Oct. 13 trade with the Green Bay Gamblers. The 5-foot-11, 171-pound forward appeared in 24 games with Chicago, tallying 11 goals and four assists. Bachman was selected by the Florida Panthers in the 5th Round (132nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft and is committed to Miami (Ohio) University.
Chicago heads west this weekend for games Friday at Sioux City and Saturday at Omaha. The Steel then return home on Friday, Feb. 12 for Steel Your Heart Night against the Musketeers.
