Steel Acquire O'Neill from Stampede

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The Chicago Steel announced Tuesday the acquisition of forward Jason O'Neill via trade from the Sioux Falls Stampede in exchange for affiliate forward Zach Risteau, as well as a 6th Round selection in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft. O'Neill, 19, recorded a team-leading 16 goals this season for the Stampede, totaling 27 points in 39 games played.

O'Neill, a 5-foot-11, 182-pound center, is committed to Providence College (Hockey East). The Odenton, Md. Native is in his first USHL season after competing for the BCHL's Langley Rivermen in 2015-2016.

Risteau, 18, appeared in five games for the Steel in 2015-2016, registering one assist. He is currently playing in the BCHL for the Merritt Centennials.

Chicago plays its next four games on the road, including visits to Sioux City this Friday, Feb. 10, and Sioux Falls on Saturday, Feb. 11. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. CST. The Steel return home to Fox Valley Ice Arena on Sunday, Feb. 19 for a 3:05 p.m. matinee against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.
