BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Stars scored two deciding runs in the seven inning to help them to a 4-3 victory over the Birmingham Barons on Friday night. Huntsville as lead by both first basemen Hunter Morris and designated hitter Khris Davis, who each had three hits and were responsible for all four runs for the Stars offense tonight. Morris, who is now a scorching 7-for-8 in his last two games, singled twice, doubled and scored two runs. Davis, who now has a four-game hitting streak, had two RBI singles,the last of them being the eventual game winner. On the pitching side, Kyle Heckathorn earned his first win of the year (6 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 4 K) while Robert Wooten earned his second save of the season with a scoreless final 1.1 innings.
With two wins apiece for each team, the Stars will try to take the rubber match of the five-game series with the Barons on Sunday as Huntsville send R.J Seidel (0-1, 10.12 ERA) to the mound to square off against Birmingham LHP Pedro Hernandez (0-1, 5.79 ERA). First pitch is at 6:30 PM.
