Tuesday, April 17: Stars 3, Sioux Falls Stampede 5

Shots: Stars 37, Stampede 25

PP: Stars 1-for-7, Stampede 1-for-2

The Lincoln Stars (0-1-0) lost 5-3 to the Sioux Falls Stampede (1-0-0) in Game 1 of the Western Conference First Round at Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Stars forward Logan Jenuwine (3:53 1st) scored the opening goal to take a 1-0 lead. Stampede forward Kevin Conley (PP, 12:43 1st) and defenseman A.J. Villela (13:09 1st) answered back to take a 2-1 lead. Stampede defenseman Jack St. Ivany (4:19 2nd) spread the lead to two, 3-1, before Stars defenseman Cole Krygier (7:38 2nd) brought the road side within one, 3-2. Stampede forwards Kirill Panyukov (13:30 2nd) and Cameron Burke (SH, 9:22 3rd) spread the lead to 5-3. Stars forward Paul Cotter (PP, 18:30 3rd) cut the lead to 5-3, but the late goal couldn't spur the Stars back.

Stampede goaltender Mikhail Berdin (1-0-0) stopped 34 of 37 shots in the win. Stars netminder TomᚠVomá?ka (0-1-0) stopped 11 of 15 shots in the loss, and Derek Schaedig halted nine of 10 shots in relief.

Wednesday, April 18: Stars 6, Sioux Falls Stampede 3

Shots: Stars 44, Stampede 30

PP: Stars 1-for-6, Stampede 3-for-6

The Lincoln Stars (1-1-0) responded with a 6-3 win over the Sioux Falls Stampede (1-1-0) in Game 2 of the Western Conference First Round at Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Stars forward Logan Jenuwine (8:14 1st) opened the scoring early before Stampede forward Adam Dawe (PP, 9:46 1st) tied the game, 1-1. Stampede forward Nolan Walker (PP, 1:06 2nd) gave the home team a 2-1 lead before three-unanswered goals came from Stars forwards Gustaf Westlund (4:31 2nd), Collin Peters (5:15 2nd) and Josiah Slavin (7:09 2nd) pushed the Stars ahead, 4-2. Stampede forward Cameron Burke (11:33 2nd) brought the game within one, 4-3, before Stars forwards Casey Dornbach (PP, 2:02 3rd) and Ashton Calder (SH, 7:59 3rd) put the game out of reach at 6-3.

Stars goaltender Derek Schaedig (1-0-0) stopped 27 of 30 shots in the win, while Stampede netminder Mikhail Berdin (1-1-0) halted 37 of 43 shots in the loss.

Thursday, April 19: Stars 5, Sioux Falls Stampede 4 (OT)

PP: Stars 0-for-3, Stampede 1-for-4

The Lincoln Stars (2-1-0) punched their ticket to the next round with a 5-4 overtime win over the Sioux Falls Stampede (1-1-1) in Game 3 of the Western Conference First Round at Denny Sanford Premier Center.

Stampede forward Adam Dawe (3:19 1st; 14:00 1st) doubled the Sioux Falls advantage before Stars forward Tristan Ashbrook (19:17 1st) answered back to draw within one, 2-1. Stampede forward Kirill Panyukov (PP, 6:40 2nd) pushed back before Stars forwards Collin Peters (1:15 3rd) and Casey Dornbach (8:56 3rd) tied the game at 3-3. Stampede defenseman Paul DeNaples (10:19 3rd) edged ahead, and Stars defenseman Eero Teravainen (14:09 3rd) sent the game to overtime, 4-4. At the end of overtime, Stars forward Paul Cotter (19:26 OT) sealed the 5-4 win, winning the series 2-1.

Stars goaltender Derek Schaedig (2-0-0) halted 21 of 25 shots in the win, while Stampede netminder Mikhail Berdin (1-1-1) stopped 44 of 49 shots in the overtime loss.

Saturday, April 21: Stars 3, Waterloo Black Hawks 2 (OT)

Shots: Stars 33, Black Hawks 42

PP: Stars 1-for-5, Black Hawks 0-for-3

The Lincoln Stars (3-1-0) took a 1-0 series lead thanks to a 3-2 overtime win over the Waterloo Black Hawks (0-0-1) on Saturday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals at Young Arena.

Black Hawks forwards Ethan Johnson (2:02 2nd) and Garrett Wait (2:37 2nd) scored two swift goals followed immediately by a tally from forward Ashton Calder (2:44 2nd) to cut the lead in half, 2-1. Stars forward Josiah Slavin (5:37 3rd) batted in a rebound with one second left on the man-advantage, tying the game at 2-2. In overtime, Stars forward Paul Cotter (3:10 OT) sealed the victory at 3-2 with a shot from the slot.

Stars netminder Derek Schaedig (3-0-0) saved 40 of 42 shots in the win, while Black Hawks goaltender Matej Tomek (0-0-1) halted 30 of 33 shots in the overtime loss.

Sunday, April 22: Stars 0, Waterloo Black Hawks 3

Shots: Stars 21, Black Hawks 32

PP: Stars 0-for-4, Black Hawks 0-for-8

The Lincoln Stars (3-2-0) fell 3-0 to the Waterloo Black Hawks (1-0-1) on Sunday night in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals at Young Arena.

Black Hawks forward Garrett Klee (11:47 1st) opened the scoring with the eventual game-winning goal to take a 1-0 lead. Black Hawks forwards Bobby Trivigno (2:52 2nd) and Garrett Wait (14:58 3rd) added tallies to put the game out of reach in the 3-0 result.

Black Hawks goaltender Jared Moe (1-0-0) saved all 21 shots in the win, while Stars netminder Derek Schaedig (3-1-0) halted 29 of 31 shots in the loss.

The Lincoln Stars complete the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2018 Clark Cup this week against the Waterloo Black Hawks. The Stars opened the series with a thrilling 3-2 overtime win but fell 3-0 in Game 2 on Sunday. The Stars are split for the third-straight appearance against the Black Hawks in the playoffs heading into Game 3. With the results, the Stars are 3-6-1 against the Black Hawks in the Clark Cup Playoffs.

PROMOTIONS: All You Can Eat Hockey comes to the Ice Box for the entirety of the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs. For just $15, all fans get access to playoff hockey and all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, pulled pork sandwiches and fountain drinks. Fans in the North Zone and Redmond Asset Club (RAC) also receive this perk for $20 and $25, respectively.

STAR BITS...

After playing the first five games of the 2018 Clark Cup Playoffs on the road, the Stars head to the Ice Box for their first two postseason games. The Stars have split their last four home playoff appearances though own four wins in three appearances since 2012 at home. The Stars own a 16-13-1 at the Ice Box in the playoffs since 2003. The only perfect home postseason schedule in that time came in 2003, going 6-0-0 during their run to the Clark Cup Championship.
