Lincoln Stars News Release

Lincoln, Neb. - The Stars won 4-1 against the Green Bay Gamblers and secured home-ice advantage in the Clark Cup Playoffs on Friday night in the Ice Box.

The Stars opened the scoring when Dominick Mersch potted his sixth of the season at 10:48 of the first with a wrist shot from the left circle that beat Gamblers goalie Adam Huska under the left pad. Anthony Wyse had the assist.

Lincoln took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

Ryan Poehling added to the Stars lead in the second, deflecting Alex Green's shot at 8:44 of the period to make it 2-0.

Lincoln added to its lead five minutes later when Biagio Lerario dumped the puck and Will D'Orsi one-timed the carom off the boards to beat Huska blocker side.

The Stars' third goal of the night prompted the Gamblers to pull Huska and bring Kevin Reich on in replacement.

The Gamblers got on the board late in the third with Justin Leonard's fifth of the season, but Stars forward Collin Peters quickly neutralized the goal with an empty netter moments later to make it a 4-1 final.

Peyton Jones finished with 30 saves for the Stars.

The Stars return to action on Saturday, April 9 against the Green Bay Gamblers. For tickets and more information log on to lincolnstars.com.
