Texas center Aaron Gagnon scored twice in regulation and the Stars tallied on three of five shootout attempts for the victory. Texas goalie Matt Climie (21-16-3) stopped 27 Admirals shots in regulation and three of five in the shootout to preserve the win. Texas is now 22-13-2-2 on the road after finishing 6-1-0-0 on its seven-game road trip. The Stars have posted victories in 13 of the last 16 games and eight of their last nine. The Stars struck for the first goal of the night and the only tally of the first period. Forwards Colton Sceviour and Luke Gazdic pressed the Milwaukee defense, creating an Admirals' turnover. Center Aaron Gagnon picked up the puck and quickly fired a shot past goalie Chet Pickard for his team-leading 25th marker of the season and a 1-0 Texas lead at 6:39.
In the second period, the Admirals tied the game 1-1 just 4:42 into the middle frame. Forward Dave Scatchard poked the puck to center ice and scooped it up for a breakaway. Scatchard moved in alone on Matt Climie and snapped a wrist shot past the Stars netminder for a shorthanded tally, his 15th goal of the year. The Admirals moved in front of Texas, taking a 2-1 lead at 14:55. Leading scorer Mike Santorelli made a cross-ice pass to Jonathan Blum. The Admirals defenseman beat Matt Climie with a wrist shot for his 11th goal of the year and a one-goal Milwaukee lead.
In the third period, defenseman Garrett Stafford found Aaron Gagnon on the left-wing boards through center ice. The Stars leading scorer carried the puck into the Milwaukee zone and snuck a backhand shot past Milwaukee goalie Chet Pickard for his 26th goal of the year and a 2-2 game at 13:09 of the third period.
The two teams would skate to a scoreless overtime and head into a shootout tied 2-2. Texas forwards Colton Sceviour, Travis Morin and Gagnon each netted goals in the shootout. Milwaukee's Mike Santorelli and Alexander Sulzer scored in the shootout. Texas goalie Matt Climie stopped three of five, improving to 3-3 in shootouts this season.
