STARS HOST PINK IN THE RINK THIS FRIDAY NIGHT

Annual cancer awareness event with jersey auction benefitting Visiting Nurse Association

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars continue their brief home stretch to start the 2017-18 regular season with the annual Pink In The Rink game this Friday, Oct. 13 at 7:35 p.m. against the Des Moines Buccaneers.

This season, the Stars are rallying their support for the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), a team of more than 400 expert healthcare professionals and caregivers that provide high quality care to residents of Omaha and Council Bluffs. VNA of Omaha and Council Bluffs continues to be recognized for being the trusted in-home care provider at the forefront of innovating skilled health services and caregiving.

After the ice painting by Stars fans following the Home Opener last week, the Stars will skate over the special personal messages left by the Lincoln community throughout the game while wearing special custom-designed pink-themed jerseys that will be auctioned to the public in a post-game jersey auction immediately following the game. Proceeds from the auction will benefit VNA of Omaha and Council Bluffs.

This is the second-straight season the Stars and Buccaneers will meet at the Pink In The Rink game after the Stars came away with a 1-0 shutout victory that evening. It is the first of nine meetings this season between the Stars and Buccaneers as well as the first half of a home-and-home weekend. The Stars won their season opening game 1-0 over the Muskegon Lumberjacks, while the Buccaneers split their opening weekend with a 6-2 win on Opening Night against the Madison Capitols while slipping 3-2 to Muskegon in their Home Opener.
