Lincoln Stars News Release
Waterloo, Iowa - The Waterloo Black Hawks handed the Lincoln Stars a 6-0 loss in Young Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The loss moved the Stars record to 24-16-5 and 13-9-4 on the road.
The Stars were unable to convert on a pair of back-to-back power plays early in the game, allowing the Black Hawks to take the lead at 7:07 of the first period. Waterloo's Kevin Charyszyn deflected a shot for the power play goal that made it 1-0, then scored on a nearly identical play four minutes later. The Black Hawks held a 2-0 lead at the first intermission.
Waterloo extended its lead with the help of a five-minute power play in the second period. Nick Swaney scored back-to-back goals for the Black Hawks to make it 4-0 halfway through the period. At 11:57 of the second, the Stars made an errant pass on an odd-man rush that resulted in Waterloo's fifth goal of the game. The Black Hawks added another in the third to make it a 6-0 final.
Lincoln finished 0/4 on the power play and 2/5 on the penalty kill.
