Lincoln Stars News Release

Lincoln, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars have retroactively acquired defenseman Wyatt Aamodt and forward Austen Long from the Chicago Steel as future considerations from a previous trade including affiliate Nick Abruzzese and a first-round pick in the 2017 USHL Phase II Draft.

Aamodt is a 5'11" 206-pound defenseman with 20 points through 66 USHL games. The Minnesota State University commit posted one goal and 18 assists through 53 games with the Steel last season. Aamodt is a Hermantown, Minn. native and helped the United States win the gold medal at the 2016 World Junior A Challenge. He is a 1997 birth year.

"To add a player of Wyatt's caliber was very important for us," Stars General Manager Jon Hull said. "He is familiar with our staff having played under Chris Hartsburg at the World Junior A Challenge and is coming off a championship season in Chicago where he was instrumental on the backend. He brings experience, leadership, character and an all-around game."

Long is a 5'11" 178-pound forward set to enter his third full USHL season with 29 points through 94 career games. The Spring Lake Park, Minn. native recorded four goals and 14 assists through 51 games for the Steel last season. Long logged 30 games with the Tri-City Storm prior to being traded to Chicago midway through the 2015-2016 season. The 1998 birth year is a product of the Omaha AAA program.

"After the year Austen had in Chicago, we feel he can be an impact player for us on and off the ice," Hull said. "He is a natural leader in the dressing room and we will rely on him to help lead us next season."

Aamodt and Long will bring Tier-1 National Championship experience to the Stars as both won the 2017 Clark Cup with the Steel.

Season tickets for the 2017-2018 season are now available by calling 402-474-7827.
