Stampede Weekly Update: Herd Hit the Road for Four Straight Starting this Weekend

The Sioux Falls Stampede (13-7-1) will hit the road this weekend as they begin a four-game road trip.

On Friday, the Herd will travel to Kearney, Neb. to face the Tri-City Storm at 7:35 PM. Tri-City enters the weekend with a 10-10-2 record and in a tie for sixth place in the West. Last weekend, the Storm fell in Fargo, 4-3 in overtime and 5-2.

On Sunday, the Herd head back down I-29 to battle their rivals, the Sioux City Musketeers at 5:05 PM. Sioux City currently sits at the bottom of the Western Conference with a 3-12-4 record. The Musketeers fell 5-2 at Des Moines on Saturday.

Over 1,000 bears collected for Teddy Bear Toss

The Stampede would like to thank all the fans who helped make the Avera Teddy Bear Toss a giant success on Saturday. The Stampede collected over 1,000 bears at the games, a Stampede record!

All the bears collected are going to be donated to the Pediatric Unit of Avera Hospital and other charitable organizations around the Sioux Empire! Thanks for being the best fans in the USHL!

Inside Stampede Hockey broadcasts live from Buffalo Wild Wings next Monday!

Inside Stampede Hockey will broadcast live from the West Avenue Buffalo Wild Wings next Monday from 5-6 PM! It will be the third of six shows that will broadcast live from the West Avenue Wild Wings location.

It's your chance to watch the show plus meet head coach Cary Eades along with several players.

Fans can enjoy 2-for-1 burgers and all day happy hour specials while enjoying the show.

Be sure to mark down the other dates and catch the show live!

Stampede Bus Trips set for Feb. 2 and 23rd

The Stampede are putting together two bus road trips for fans in February. The first will take place on Saturday, February 2nd when the Herd travel to Sioux City. The cost is $25 for a seat on the bus and a ticket to the game.

The second game will take place on Saturday, Feb 22nd when the Stampede travel to Omaha and play inside the brand new Ralston Arena. The cost is $35 for a seat on the bus and a ticket to the game.

The bus will depart from the Sioux Falls Arena and return immediately following the game.

You must sign up in advance to take advantage of either trip and both trips need a minimum of 45 people to take place. To sign up please contact the Stampede office at 336-6060 ext. 201.

Former captain Jake Drewiske to appear on Inside Stampede Hockey

Former Stampede captain Jake Drewiske will be a guest on Inside Stampede Hockey today with Jim Olander. Drewiske is currently playing with the Trenton Titans, the "AA" affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Drewiske has appeared in seven games this season, posting three goals and two assists. He is in his first full season in the ECHL after completing his senior season last year at St. Lawrence where he served as a captain.

Drewiske was a member of the Stampede's Anderson Cup and Clark Cup championship teams and was a captain during the 2007-08 season before moving on to play Division I college hockey at St. Lawrence.

Hartzell continues impressive play in goal

Former Stampede goaltender Eric Hartzell (2007-09) continued his strong play in goal for Quinnipiac over the weekend. On Friday, he made 20 saves and earned his third shutout of the season in a 4-0 win over Union. On Saturday, he made 22 saves in a 3-1 win over Rensselaer.

Hartzell is 7-0-1 in his last eight games and 10-2-2 overall ranks third overall with a 1.40 Goals-Against-Average.

The Bobcats are a perfect 6-0-0 in ECAC Conference play and 10-3-2 overall and rank in the top 20 nationally.

Hartzell and Quinnipiac will try and keep things going this weekend with a home-and-home series against Princeton.
