Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede scored three times in the third period as they blasted the Omaha Lancers, 7-2 on Friday night at Ralston Arena. It marked the first time since the 2014-15 the Stampede won at Ralston and just the third time ever they skated away with a victory. The win improved the Herd's road record to 2-0-0 this season and 2-1-0 overall.

It may have been Friday the 13th, but the Stampede were the scary team all night for the Lancers. Reid Stefanson led the way with two goals and two assists for the Herd who scored three times on the power play.. Khristian Acosta added a goal and an assist while Jack St. Ivany, Lucas Breault and Matthew Quercia all tallied two assists in the game. Mikhail Berdin earned his second win of the season with 26 saves.

The Stampede drew an early penalty and were able to take advantage, scoring just 2:07 into the game when Jack St. Ivany sent a pass inside the right circle for Reid Stefanson who wristed a shot into the upper right-hand corner of the net to give the Herd a 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, the Lancers went on the powerplay and they would connect when Ethan Price picked up a loose puck off the back boards and backhanded it past Stampede goaltender Mikhail Berdin. It remained that way until the 13:49 mark when Matthew Quercia sent a nice pass down the right-wing boards for Nolan Walker who raced in and backhanded a shot past Christian Sbaraglia for a 2-1 advantage. Omaha outshot the Stampede 7-6 in the period.

The Lancers would tie things up 8:51 into the second period when Noah Cates converted on a 5-on-3 powerplay to make it 2-2. The special teams parade continued in the period as the Herd regained the lead at 11:47 when Kirill Panyukov tallied his first career USHL goal on the powerplay. Reid Stefanson sent a pass into the high slot for Panyukov who blasted a shot past Sbaraglia. Three minutes later the Herd extended their lead to 4-2 when Stefenson played set up man again, this time at full strength, sending a pass in front of the net for Kevin Conley who slapped the puck past Sbaraglia to give Sioux Falls a two-goal advantage. The goal sent Sbarglia to the bench early and the Herd skated into the locker room with a 4-2 lead. Sioux Falls outshot Omaha 12-7 in the period.

The Stampede entered the third on a 5-on-3 and were unable to capitalize, but scored just seconds after Omaha returned to full strength. Jack St. Ivany found Quercia open in front of the Omaha net who spun around and sent a perfect pass into the crease for Khristian Acosta who knocked it home to give the Herd a 5-2 lead just 1:26 into the period. Just over a minute later the Herd increased their lead to four goals when Stefensen scored for the second time off a pass from Lucas Breault. The Stampede sealed the game for good at 18:11 when Artem Ivanyuzhenkov tallied his second of the season off a great feed from Acosta to give the Stampede a 7-2 victory.

Both teams finished the night with 28 shots on goal and 2-for-6 on the power play.

The Herd return to action Saturday night when they travel to the Tyson Events Center to face the Sioux City Musketeers at 7:05 PM. Pre-game coverage beings at 6:40 PM on KELO News Talk 1320-AM, 107.9-FM and KELO.com.
