Stampede Blind The Flash
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Stampede utilized a team-oriented effort, as six players scored in double digits, to defeat the Utah Flash 111-87. The win gives Idaho a 17-3 record at home so far this season.
Stampede guard, Mike Taylor, led the Stampede with 20 points. Taylor also dished out seven assists, including a pair of impressive alley-oop passes to Brent Petway. Mouhamed Sene, on an NBA assignment from the Seattle SuperSonics, finished with his ninth double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Lance Allred made 7 out of 11 shots from the field to score 16 points, while Randy Livingston added 15 points and eight assists.
"To have three experienced players like Luke (Jackson), Roberto (Bergersen), and Randy (Livingston), is such a huge benefit for our team," Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates said.
Morris Almond, on an NBA assignment from the Utah Jazz, led all scorers in the game with 27 points. Gabe Pruitt, on assignment from the Boston Celtics, scored 13 of his 16 points in the first quarter to help give the Flash a 27-22 advantage over the Stampede at the end of the first quarter. The Stampede outscored the Flash 34-28 to go into halftime with a 56-55 lead.
Idaho played tough defense in the third quarter, allowing Utah only 16 third quarter points. The Stampede were able to score 30 points in the third, benefiting from a 12-2 run at the end of the quarter.
The Stampede did not give Utah a chance to pull off a comeback in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Flash 25-16 in the final quarter.
The Stampede took advantage of their size, outrebounding the Flash 47-31 as well as outscoring them in the paint 62-36.
Utah and Idaho tip off again tomorrow night at 7 p.m. in Boise.
