BOISE, Idaho, September 6, 2011 - The Idaho Stampede announced today the re-signing of Joel Abelson as the team's Associate Head Coach and the signing of Ethan Brilliant as the team's Head of Basketball Operations and Assistant Coach; the Stampede also announced a promotion and new hire in the team's business operations.
Abelson returns for his fourth season with the Idaho Stampede, his second as Associate Head Coach. Abelson, a University of Michigan graduate, has worked for the Charlotte Bobcats and at Abunassar Impact Basketball in Las Vegas, training NBA stars such as Baron Davis, Jermaine O'Neal, Chauncey Billups and Paul Pierce.
Ethan Brilliant enters his first season with the Idaho Stampede. Originally from Framingham, Mass. He graduated with honors from Framingham State University with a B.A. in Communication Arts. During his time there, Brilliant worked for the men's basketball team from 2004-09 as a Team Manager and Assistant Coach. Brilliant also served as an Internet Operations Intern with the Boston Celtics during his senior year. In 2009-10, Brilliant worked remotely for the coaching staff of the Maine Red Claws, providing relevant statistical data; during the second half of 2010-11, Brilliant provided statistical insight for Stampede Head Coach Randy Livingston.
The Stampede also announced the promotion of Steven Clenney to Senior Account Executive and the hiring of Nate Kropuenske as an Account Executive.
Clenney begins his second full season with the club, after being named an Account Executive in January of 2010. Clenney, a graduate of Florida State University and the DeVos Sport Business Management at the University of Central Florida, will continue his current sales and marketing responsibilities, while helping acquire more team partnerships and assist in ticketing.
Kropuenske hails from Sioux Falls, S.D. before attending college at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. He graduated in May 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Sports Marketing and Administration. Kropuenske played baseball for Dakota Wesleyan University before transferring to Northern State. As an Account Executive, Kropuenske will sell all types of ticket packages, execute game day responsibilities and on-court promotions and assist with corporate partnerships.
