St. George RoadRunners News Release

(Dublin, CA. June 30, 2008) The Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that INF Brandon Taylor of the St. George Roadrunners has had his contract purchased by the Los Angeles Dodgers. One of the league's leading hitters and fielders and receipient of the a Player of the Week award during the first month of the GBL, Taylor's play at shortstop and third base had generated attention from a number of major league organizations.

"Brandon has been outstanding for us in the field and at the plate," said St. George Manager Cory Snyder. "He's got a great future with the Dodgers and I congratulate L.A. on moving fast to bring him into their organization."

Taylor, 25, 6-1, 200 lbs is a shortstop/third baseman who was drafted out of Brigham Young University by the Chicago Cubs in the 17th round of the 2005 draft after an outstanding collegiate season where he was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year and earned All-American honors. After two seasons in the Cubs system where he was played both as an infielder and a pitcher he was released and joined the Roadrunners after dominating the Arizona Winter League in February as a slugging 3rd baseman. Allowed to concentrate on hitting and fielding again, he was off to a hot start in the GBL, posting video game-like numbers from the plate hitting at a .411 clip with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs in just 32 games.

"Brandon Taylor is the second Roadrunner to be acquired by a major league team and should be followed by many more from this year's talented squad," said St. George General Manager Rick Berry. "The high level of baseball played by the team this year has attracted increasingly talented players and major league organizations to St. George which is great for our fans and players."

Taylor is the 15th GBL player to be purchased by a major league organization in 2008.
