Sports Illustrated's Christian Stone To Deliver Keynote Speech at All-Star Luncheon

HOOVER, AL - The Birmingham Barons announced Monday that Christian Stone of Sports Illustrated will give the keynote speech at this year's All-Star Game luncheon on Monday, July 13.
The luncheon will be held at The Wynfrey Hotel from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM and will be attended by the Southern League All-Star players as well as various Southern League front office members and officials. It is open to the public with the purchase of a $32 ticket, which includes the cost of lunch. For more information, please contact the Regions Park Box Office.
Stone is an assistant managing editor for SPORTS ILLUSTRATED. He joined the magazine in June 1992 as an NHL reporter and most recently served as a senior editor for eight years.
Stone has edited the NBA, the Swimsuit Issue and, for the last three years, major league baseball, a beat in which SI has distinguished itself in 2009 with numerous major breaking news stories, most notably Selena Roberts's and David Epstein's revelation of Alex Rodriguez's positive test for two anabolic steroids. Stone was founding editor of SI On Campus (now SIonCampus.com).
After graduating from Tufts University in 1991, Stone attended Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism where he earned an M.A. in journalism.
Stone lists launching SI On Campus in the fall of 2003 as his most memorable career moment. His favorite sports include baseball and pro basketball. Stone enjoys spending time in New York's outer boroughs, the works of J.R.R. Tolkein and the Boston Red Sox.
Stone, 38, was born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in Mystic, Connecticut. He currently lives in New York City with his wife, Kim, and their children, Sam and Annabel.

The Barons won the South Division First-Half Title and will open the playoffs on Thursday, September 10 at Regions Park. Game two will be played Friday, September 11 at Regions Park.
