Spits Extend West Division Lead with Win over Flint

(Windsor, ON) - Mikhail Sergachev's goal nearly seven minutes into the third period stood up as the winner, as the Spitfires extended their lead in the West Division with a 5-3 victory of the Flint Firebirds at the WFCU Centre Thursday night.
Sergachev and Logan Brown each had a goal and three assists for a Windsor (27-12-5-0) club that opened up a seven-point lead over Sarnia, courtesy of the Sting's 6-2 loss to London.
Brendan Lemieux and Christian Fischer each had a goal and an assist, while Bradley Latour (14) had the other Spitfires tally.
Michael DiPietro had 22 saves, running his personal winning streak to eight games.
The clubs meat again in Flint on Saturday night, before the Spits make the long trek to Sault Ste Marie for a Sunday afternoon affair with the Greyhounds.
