-SPIKES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST ABERDEEN: The State College Spikes, who are still number one in the New York-Penn League in ERA at 2.50 and two games back of the league's best overall record, continue a six-game road trip tonight with the last of three matchups against the Aberdeen IronBirds. The Spikes' 14-10 record is two games back of Jamestown, while Aberdeen currently occupies first place in the McNamara Division. The three-game set against Aberdeen marks the first out-of-division action for the Spikes this season. The IronBirds hold the lead in the all-time series, 15-7, with a 8-2 record in games played at Ripken Stadium.

-LAST GAME: Steven Ramos had a three-hit night at the plate, but Johnstown, PA native Austin Urban held the Spikes at bay as the Aberdeen IronBirds edged out a 3-1 decision on Thursday night at Ripken Stadium.Ramos posted a trio of hits for the second time in a week after replicating his 3-for-4 performance from July 4. However, Urban came on for Aberdeen in relief and went 5 2/3 scoreless innings, giving up just two hits while striking out four to grab the win. Matthew Young scored the lone Spikes run, while Cesar Valera's 20-game on-base streak came to an end after an 0-for-4 evening. Andrew Pierce took his first loss as a professional after allowing three runs on six hits, a walk and a hit batsman over 2 2/3 innings. Pierce also struck out one.

-BAUTISTA MAKES START FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Right-hander Juan Bautista, the Spikes' Opening Night starter, makes his team-leading fifth start of the year on the mound for State College tonight. Last time out, Bautista went five innings and yielded three runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out one against Batavia last Friday. The native of the Dominican Republic has gone at least five innings in every appearance this year, and makes just his second start away from Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-RHEAULT GETS BALL FOR IRONBIRDS: Right-hander Dylan Rheault gets the ball tonight in his second pro start and fourth overall appearance for Aberdeen. The 2013 19th-round draft choice of the Orioles tossed 2.2 scoreless innings of relief to start his IronBirds career before making his first start on Saturday against Brooklyn. Rheault gave up one run on four hits and a walk while striking out one over three innings against the Cyclones. The 6'9" righty was drafted out of Central Michigan after his sophomore season, and struck out 29 batters in 39 innings this spring for the Chippewas.

-VALERA NAMED NYPL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Major League Baseball Advanced Media announced on Monday that State College Spikes shortstop Cesar Valera was named the New York-Penn League's Player of the Week for the week of July 1-7, 2013. Valera, a native of Sosua, Venezuela, hit .478 over the week with five doubles, a triple and a home run to go with a pair of three-hit games.

-SPIKE MARKS: Valera is 4th in the NYPL in batting average (.329), T-2nd in hits (28), 3rd in doubles (9), 5th in runs (17) and 4th in slugging (.541)...Jimmy Bosco is T-5th in hits (27), 2nd in triples (4), 1st in runs (20), and T-3rd in total bases (47)...David Washington is 1st in RBI (22), T-4th in doubles (8) & T-3rd in homers (4)...Bruce Caldwell is 3rd in OBP (.411), T-2nd in runs scored (18) and 3rd in walks (15)
