Special Teams Power Wolves to Franchise-Record 13th Consecutive Home Win

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves and Cleveland Monsters split six power-play goals, but the Wolves skated away with a 4-3 victory Thursday night at Allstate Arena to extend their franchise record home win streak to 13 games.
Forwards Tomas Hyka, Mackenzie MacEachern, Teemu Pulkkinen and T.J. Tynan all scored for the Wolves (25-16-6-2) while Cleveland's Terry Broadhurst netted two goals.
"Just like how our penalty kill struggled, I thought our power play had a really good night tonight," said Wolves head coach Rocky Thompson. "We scored three goals and we generated a ton of opportunities and we were simple. We were bringing pucks to the net. We weren't trying to overthink it and then, when a nice, obvious play opened up, we executed that play."
With the Monsters' Joe Pendenza serving a hooking infraction, the Wolves opened scoring 5:57 into the first period. Defenseman Jason Garrison slapped a point shot as Beau Bennett screened goaltender Matiss Kivlenieks (9-14-2) at the top of the crease. Bennett and Pulkkinen dug for the puck in a net-front scrum and Pulkkinen pushed the puck over the line for the 1-0 Wolves lead.
The Wolves pushed their lead to 2-0 at 12:26 of the first as, from the Wolves blue line, defenseman Jake Bischoff avoided a Cleveland (16-26-4-3) attacker and pushed a pass to center Wade Megan streaking up the right wing. Megan toe-dragged around a Monsters defender for a chance that Kivlenieks stopped. However, MacEachern was trailing the play and smacked home the rebound.
The Monsters sliced the Wolves' lead in half, 2-1, when from the top of the crease Terry Broadhurst redirected a Nathan Gerbe center-point shot at 7:05 of the second period.
Chicago regained its two-goal lead just 2:22 later when Hyka scored from the top of the left circle. Skating with the man advantage, Tynan won the offensive-zone draw back to Garrison, who teed up Hyka for his first goal since returning from injury.
On Cleveland's fourth power play of the game, center Alex Broadhurst pulled the team within a goal of the Wolves, 3-2, with a power-play goal at 14:23 of the middle frame.
Just 1:27 into the third period, the Wolves again took a two-goal lead. On their third power play of the contest, Pulkkinen spied Tynan at the right post and fed him a pass that Tynan tapped in for Chicago's fourth goal.
The Broadhursts didn't quit as just less than three minutes later, Terry netted his second power-play goal of the contest to make it a 4-3 Wolves lead. Carter Camper earned the primary assist while Alex Broadhurst picked up his second point of the night with the secondary helper.
In his first game with the Wolves since Oct. 7, goaltender Oscar Dansk (1-0-1) earned his first AHL win with a 32-save performance. Kivlenieks made 29 saves in the loss.
