Spartans Add Experience To Quarterback Position

La Crosse, WI: As Jimmy Sangster continues to rehab from a torn MCL, suffered in the first half of the Spartans opening night loss against the Wichita Wild, the team announced today that they have signed indoor football veteran Kewan Dewberry to step in and fill the void. The former Morehouse University signal caller is a dual threat behind center, and is known for making just as many plays with his feet as he does with his arm. He most recently was a part of an Abilene Ruff Rider's team who in 2009 finished in second place in the Lone Star Division. The 6'2 200 lb. Quarterback also lead the Lexington Horsemen of the AF2 in 2007 & 2008.
"Our offense needed a jolt, and Kewan (Dewberry) adds the valuable experience behind center that our young team needs," stated Spartans Co-Owner and General Manager Chris Kokalis. "We have too much talent on the offensive side of the ball with the likes of Ulysses Odoms, Ya'Tarrie Brown, and Antonio Overstreet to not be putting more points on the board."
Dewberry and the rest of the Spartans have been hitting the practice field hard of late as they prepare themselves to face Sioux Falls on Sunday. The Storm is currently 3-0 and sits in first place in the Central West Division. Game time for the team's third straight road game is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. Fans wishing to watch the game can log onto www.b2tv.com and purchase a season or individual game pass. Networking Event Scheduled for Monday, March 29th
The Spartans will also be holding a Business Networking Event on Monday, March 29th from 5-7 p.m. at the Dock 7 Banquet Hall on 1501 St. Andrew St. in La Crosse. The event is exclusive to Spartans' corporate partners and local chamber of commerce members. Any Spartan sponsor and chamber of commerce members who would like to attend should RSVP to 608-782-4461 by March 24th. Door prizes, cash bar, etc. will be offered.
