Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Sounds dropped their third straight game to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Monday evening, falling 3-1 at historic Greer Stadium.
With the loss, the Sounds (58-52) fell out of first place in the PCL American Conference Northern Division for the first time since May 14th.
Nashville jumped on the board first with an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning against Albuquerque starter Dwayne Pollok.
Jason Bourgeois (3-for-4) - who accounted for three of the Sounds' five hits on the night - led off with a double. Corey Patterson followed with a bunt single that was misfired into right field by catcher A.J. Ellis, allowing Bourgeois to scamper home with the game's first run.
Albuquerque tied the contest at 1-1 in the top of the sixth when Mitch Jones drew a two-out walk from Chris Narveson, stole second, and scored on Hector Luna's RBI single to left.
The Isotopes pulled ahead, 2-1, in the seventh when Chin-Lung Hu legged out a one-out triple against Narveson, his first three-bagger of the season, then scored the go-ahead run on an Ellis groundout.
Third baseman Tony Abreu (3-for-4) increased the visitors' lead to 3-1 in the top of the eighth when he greet Sounds reliver Matt Ginter by driving the right-hander's 1-2 offering over the right field fence for his seventh home run of the year.
Reliever Hyang-Nam Choi (6-1) picked up the victory for Albuquerque following two scoreless innings of relief work behind Pollok.
Cory Wade worked the final two innings in scoreless fashion to notch his first save of the year for the Isotopes.
Narveson (4-4) took the loss for the Sounds despite a quality start for the second straight outing. He allowed two runs on five hits over seven innings of action.
The teams wrap up the five-game series with a 12 p.m. finale on Tuesday afternoon. Right-hander Tim Dillard (10-4, 3.66) will make the start for Nashville to face Albuquerque right-hander J.D. Durbin (0-2, 6.00).
