Bridgeport Islanders News Release

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers have announced the signing of Mark Wotton and Jon Gleed to one-year, one-way American Hockey League contracts.

Wotton joined the Sound Tigers at the start of the 2006-07 season and was immediately named the team's captain. The Foxwarren, MAN native is the longest tenured captain in Sound Tiger history, returning next season for his fourth year. Through his first three seasons with the Sound Tigers, Wotton has ranked as either the top or second leading scoring defenseman on the team, totaling 74 points (16 goals and 58 assists) in 220 games. In 2006, Wotton won the Calder Cup with the Hersey Bears. The 6'0, 200-pound defenseman has played in 43 games in the National Hockey League and scored three goals and six assists.

Gleed will return to the Sound Tigers next season after his call-up from the Utah Grizzlies half-way through last year. A Cornell University graduate, Gleed was drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in 2004 and began his pro career in 2006, skating for both the team's AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs, and ECHL affiliate, the Cincinnati Cyclones. In the 2007-08 season, the Milton, ON native split time between both clubs and helped lead the Cyclones to a Kelly Cup Championship. The 6'2, 210-pound defenseman scored a goal and two assists during Cincinnati's run through the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The Sound Tigers 2009-10 regular season is rapidly approaching so don't miss your chance to reserve seats today. For tickets or information on how to see the future stars of the New York Islanders, contact the Sound Tigers' front office at (203) 334-GOAL or e-mail info@soundtigers.com.
