Soo Eagles News Release

The Soo Eagles will take on the Michigan Warriors this Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Pullar Stadium. These two teams are no strangers, as they have already played six games this season, with the Eagles holding a 4-2 season series lead.

The Warriors earned a point last weekend, in a shootout loss to Port Huron. The Warriors are 8-16-5 and in 8th place in the North Division, but have played much better the past month. This weekend will be the last time these teams face each other during the regular season.

Middle school and high school students, with their school ID, can enter a drawing for an X-Box 360. The X-Box winner will be drawn on Sault High Appreciation Night, Saturday, December 29th. All Sault High students will receive a discount on their tickets, along with other special events.

Friday night is "Have a Little Sole Night". Donate a pair of new or gently used warm shoes or boots, to help those in need this holiday season. The first 150 donations will be exchanged for a coupon from Subway.

Saturday night there is a skate with the Eagles after the game. Bring your skates to the game and lace them up, and chat, skate and take pictures of your favorite Eagles player.

Soo Eagles 2, Janesville Jets 1 - Saturday, December 15, 2012 The Soo Eagles relied on the sparkling performance of Tyler Marble in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Janesville Jets on Saturday night. The Eagles swept the Jets for the second time this season, and remain in a first place tie with the Jamestown Ironmen in the North Division.

The Soo was led by Alexander Taulien, who grabbed one goal. Taulien scored on the power play 12:45 into the third period to make the score 2-1. The Eagles had gained a power play chance when Pedlan Ruslan was whistled for slashing. Matt Menta picked up the assist.

Marble rejected 40 shots on goal for the Eagles. Soo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Jets' Brock Kautz stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Janesville incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.

Soo Eagles 3, Janesville Jets 0 - Friday, December 14, 2012 Tyler Marble was superb between the pipes for the Soo Eagles, as he did not allow a goal in a 3-0 victory over the Janesville Jets.

With the victory, the Eagles climb into a first place tie with the Jamestown Ironmen, who lost to Johnstown on Friday night.

The Eagles were led by Michael Crowley, who registered a goal. Crowley scored 4:43 into the second period to make the score 1-0. Jake Peacock provided the assist.

The Soo's penalty kill was spotless, not allowing a goal on six Janesville power plays. Janesville was unable to stop the Eagles from sending pucks towards the net, and Soo eventually piled up 33 shots on goal.

Soo additionally got points from Jared VanWormer, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Soo also got a goal from Eric Rivard. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Cody Von Reuden and Alex Robert, who each chipped in one.
