Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ - The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the re-signing of right-handed pitcher Derell McCall.
McCall rejoins the Patriots following a season in which he led the team with 10 wins, finishing 10-6 with a 4.52 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 121.1 innings pitched in 28 games, 17 of which he started.
McCall joined Somerset during the 2011 season and finished with a 4.42 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 99.2 innings pitched in 18 games.
Prior to his time with the Patriots, McCall pitched for the York Revolution for the majority of the 2010 season, finishing with a 7-3 record with 54 strikeouts in 80.2 innings pitched.
McCall has 12 seasons of professional baseball experience, including two seasons at both the Single-A and Double-A levels with the Oakland Athletics and Miami Marlins organizations.
He has a minor league career record of 87-91, a 4.48 ERA, and 869 strikeouts in 1,435 innings pitched in 333 games.
"Derell is a hard nosed pitcher that gives everything he's got for his team out on the mound. We've used him as a starter and reliever and he's come through for us in both roles. In addition, he's a guy that understands who the Patriots are and represents us well at the ballpark and throughout the community," said Brett Jodie, manager of the Somerset Patriots Baseball Club.
The 2013 season presented by Ford will begin at home on Thursday, April 18th at 7:05 pm. For more information about the upcoming season, call (908) 252-0700 or visit www.somersetpatriots.com .
