Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

CHICAGO - Dubuque Fighting Saints forward Zach Solow (Naples, Fla./Northeastern University) was named CCM/USHL Forward of the Week for his four-point weekend against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, and Waterloo Black Hawks, en route to a weekend sweep for the Saints. Solow leads the USHL in scoring with 38 points.

Solow notched four assists over the weekend in the Saints' two wins, including setting up two of teammate Cole Guttman's three goals, as well as one tally from Colin Thesien, in the 6-2 win over the Riders on Friday night, and setting up the game-tying goal, also scored by Guttman, in the 6-1 win over the Black Hawks.

Those assists continued what has proven to be the longest point streak in the USHL this season. The #SolowStreak, now at 20 games, is one game away from tying an all-time USHL Tier I record of 21 consecutive games with a point. Solow has scored 32 points (6 goals, 26 assists) in the streak that spans back to October 28.

"It's a huge deal to me. Any awards you can get during the season are remarkable," Solow said. "This wasn't individual at all, as my linemates played really well this weekend. It's really nice to get the award and to be playing well right now."

"It speaks a lot to the type of work that [Zach] has put in. I think what has really helped him is his work away from the puck and how hard he has worked to improve his game," head coach/GM Jason Lammers said. "It's not only his plays with the puck, but it's also how hard he's working to get the puck back. I think he takes a lot of pride in being a good 200-foot player, doing all the little things- winning faceoffs, blocking shots, and getting back on the backcheck."

"The [point] streak means nothing if you're not playing in April and May, so you just need to get wins here," Solow added. "We just need to keep winning, keep holding our place, and hopefully win the division and have a deep playoff run here."

Solow most recently represented the Eastern Conference at the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Sioux Falls, and won the gold medal with Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge in December.
