Snappers trip up Lugnuts, 6-4

Lansing Lugnuts News Release
LANSING, Mich. - A four-run fifth inning was too much for the Lansing Lugnuts (9-19) to overcome as they fell 6-4 to the Beloit Snappers (15-13) on Monday night at Cooley Law School Stadium.
The rubber match win allowed the Snappers to take the season series over the Lugnuts, 2-1, and drop the Lugs to 3-9 against the Midwest League's Western Division so far.
With the score tied at 2-2 in the top of the fifth inning, the Snappers went to work against Lugnuts reliever Kramer Champlin (Loss, 0-1), making his second appearance since coming off the disabled list.
Daniel Robertson drew a leadoff walk and was followed by a double off the bat of Bruce Mawell. A two-run single by Matt Olson then broke the deadlock, thrusting Beloit into a 4-2 lead. With Olson on first, Rashun Dixon blasted a two-run home run to left-center field.
Champlin settled down after the homer, retiring seven of the next eight Snappers following the home run.
Ben White got the start for Lansing, his second of the season, and threw four innings, allowing two runs. White struck out three and walked just one.
In every inning the Snappers scored, the Lugnuts followed with tallies in the home half, but the four-run inning was matched only by a single run by Lansing in the fifth.
Beloit starter Seth Streich (Win, 3-1) earned a quality start with his six inning outing, allowing three runs on six hits. He did not issue a single walk but struck out five Lansing hitters.
Ryan Dull earned his fourth save of the season, throwing two scoreless frames to close out the ballgame.
In the loss, all but one member of the Lansing lineup reached base, including a 1-for-3 night at the plate by Christian Lopes, who also drove in a pair of runs.
Catcher Aaron Munoz was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, and also threw out both would-be base stealers behind the plate.
Lansing now heads East to start a three-game series against the Dayton Dragons starting on Wednesday night. The Lugnuts will send southpaw Daniel Norris (0-2, 8.14) to the mound to take on Dragons' right-hander Robert Stephenson (1-3, 5.79) with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 p.m. ET.
Lansing Lugnuts tickets are available for purchase at lansinglugnuts.com and by calling 517-485-4500, and Lugnuts text alerts are easily accessed by texting LUGNUTS to 313131.
