Smokies win ninth straight

Sevierville, Tenn.- Tennessee won it's ninth straight game with a 5-4 victory over Carolina in front of 5,244 fans Friday night at Smokies Park.

Jerry Gil's RBI triple highlighted a three run Tennessee fourth against Carolina starter Luke Lockwood (2-2).

Jesus Cota delivered a two run single in the seventh against Kevin Cave to give the Smokies a couple of insurance runs. Carolina's three-run rally in the eighth fell a run short. Casey Daigle worked a scoreless 9th for his seventh save.

Enrique Gonzalez (8-2) allowed one run on five hits over six innings to earn the win.

The third game of the series is Saturday night at 7:15 with LHP Ray Aguilar making his first start of the season for Carolina against RHP Adam Bass (2-7, 4.69). The game will be broadcast throughout the southeast on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS).
