Tennessee Smokies News Release

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, will host a high school baseball showcase at Smokies Park coming up Saturday featuring more than 100 baseball players. This is the first time an event like this has been held at the stadium.

The showcase will allow 136 kids to show off their skills in front of many local college coaches and many Major League Baseball scouts. The event is open to spectators, but all slots for players in the showcase have been filled.

"The Smokies are very pleased to host the first-ever Smokies High School Showcase here at Smokies Park," General Manger Brian Cox said. "We hope this will help put kids together with local college coaches and give some of these kids an opportunity to play at the next level or be discovered by professional scouts."

The two session showcase gets started at 8 a.m. Saturday with a skills session followed by a game at 12:30 p.m. The second session also features a skills session, with the nightcap game following at 7:30 p.m.

Smokies Park is located just off Interstate 40 to the East of Knoxville at exit 407 in Sevierville. For more information, please contact Brian Cox at (865) 286-2300.
