Smokies Battle Generals in First Five of Ten-Game Homestand

SEVIERVILLE - The Tennessee Smokies open up a five-game homestand tomorrow night, Monday, July 4, against the First Half champions of the Southern League North Division, Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. Among the highlights for the fantastic five contests are Independence Day Fireworks on Monday, as well as Guns 'N Hoses Night on Thursday and Super Smash Night on Friday.

The homestand opens on Independence Day, Monday, July 4. Following the final out of the contest there will be a tremendous Postgame Fireworks display as a part of the Smokies' Fourth of July celebration. As a part of the festivites Smokies players and coaches will be wearing special Stars and Stripes caps that will be auctioned off throughout the game to benefit Relay for Life of Sevier County. Like all Monday contests it will be a McGhee Tyson Aiport Dollar Monday. Fans can purchase hot dogs, popcorn, programs and small Pepsi products for as cheap as $1. It will also be a Pilot Prize Night at Smokies Stadium. All fans in attendance will receive Pilot Prize Cards that can award patrons anything from free gas to various food items from Pilot Food Marts. After the fireworks, children in attendance can run the bases courtesy of Shoney's. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

The savings continue on Tuesday, July 5 with a $2 Tuesday. People in attendance can receive soft serve ice cream, large popcorn, nachos with cheese, hot dogs, draft beer and Pepsi products for as low as $2. It will also be ALS Night at the ballpark, as the Smokies will help raise awareness and money to fight the dreaded disease. Tuesday's affair will be a Food City Family Night presented by Peter Pan and ConAgra, as well as another Pilot Prize Night. That evening's ballgame is slated for 7:05 p.m.

Bring you forks and knives on Wednesday, July 6 for a Smoky Mountain Popcorn All-You-Can-Eat Wednesday. For less than $25 dollars a person, fans can enjoy all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, baked beans, potato chips, ice cream sandwiches and Pepsi products. That night's matchup is schedule to get underway at 7:05 p.m.

We honor our heroes in the local police and fire departments on Thursday, July 7 with the Smokies' annual Guns 'N Hoses Night. Prior to the contest, there will be a special on-field softball game between local policemen and firemen. Thoughout the contest there will be music, scoreboard graphics and games that will pay homage to our local heroes. Fans can quench their thirst that night thanks to a Coors Light Thirsty Thursday. Fans can get ready for the upcoming weekend with drink specials including $1 draft beers and soft drinks. It will also be another Pilot Prize Night at Smokies Stadium. The contest will start at 7:05 p.m.

Finally, the first five games of the homestand wrap up with Super Smash Night on Friday, July 8. Patrons can enjoy unique music, on-field games and videoboard graphics that feature a throwback video game theme. As a part of the fun, there will be a number of video game characters in attendance that will interact and take photos with fans throughout the game. Following the final out, there will be another stellar Postgame Fireworks show presented by Pepsi, Coors Light, WIVK, WVLT and the Knoxville News Sentinel. The final game of the series will kick off at 7:05 p.m.
