Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
WATERLOO, IOWA-After Halloween comes and goes, gather up your gourds and bring them to Young Arena on Friday, November 4th for a unique jack-o'-lantern disposal event helping the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.
In honor of Stress Awareness Day, the Hawks invite fans to "Smashing Pumpkins at Young Arena." With the contribution of $5 or a jar of peanut butter to be donated to the Food Bank, participants will have the opportunity to smash their pumpkins on camera, with the video played at intermission of Waterloo's game against the Youngstown Phantoms. The most glorious pumpkin smashers of the evening will claim Black Hawks prizes.
"Despite all the rage involved with this event, we know it will do a lot of good for food-insecure people in northeast Iowa," said Waterloo Black Hawks Vice President of Sales and Marketing Joe Greene.
From 3 to 4 p.m. in a designated area outside Young Arena, Black Hawks staff will supervise the pumpkin eradication activity. Those taking part are encouraged to be creative with their destruction, but explosives, firearms, or power tools are strictly prohibited. All decisions of the judges in regards to smashing greatness are final.
The Black Hawks game against the Phantoms will also feature a stress bulb giveaway to the first 250 fans, presented by Batteries + Bulbs in Waterloo. Tickets are on sale now by calling the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office at (319) 291-7680 or by visiting waterlooblackhawks.com.
