EUGENE, OR - Six years ago, Eugene embraced a green, fuzzy bear. Since then Sluggo has fallen in love with everything Eugene. The people, the lifestyle and of course, the baseball. Now Sluggo is ready to make a real difference in the town he loves. Everyone's favorite green bear is throwing his bear paw into the ring for Eugene's Mayor. This election year Sluggo wants you to vote. Vote for fun, vote for your future, vote for Eugene!

The Eugene Emeralds have always been supportive of the Eugene community, the players, the staff, and of course Sluggo. So when Sluggo came to the staff to explain his intention to run for mayor of Eugene, the staff rallied behind the friendly bear.

"Sluggo will be a great mayor," said Patrick Zajac, Emeralds' staff member and Sluggo's best friend. "He really cares about the community and making sure everyone has a good time. You can't help but smile around him."

As mayor, Sluggo will work hard to create a heightened sense of community centered on FUN! He will work to spread the Emeralds Kids Eat Free Wednesday program to other businesses throughout Eugene. He will remain open to hearing new ideas for all members of the community, human and animal alike. Mayor Sluggo will work hard to be the best Eugene ambassador that a green bear can be.
