Eugene Emeralds News Release

EUGENE, OR - Everyone's favorite green bear will be at PK Park to shake hands and kiss babies as the Eugene Emeralds take on the Spokane Indians. Sluggo has entered the game of politics, and he wants your help! Grab your American flag pins and come down to Sluggo's Campaign Rally! All of Sluggo's local friends and mascots will be on hand to support Sluggo's campaign, so come on down and join them in a unified Vote for Eugene! Presented by Jersey Mike's.

After a losing effort in the race to be Mayor of Eugene, Sluggo has decided that his true path is straight to the Office of the President of the United States of America! He is asking fans to come to Friday night's game for a proper presidential rally.

As always the Ems and Kendall are proud to announce that the Lane Blood Center is the Kendall Community Spotlight. Lane Blood Center is the sole provider of blood products in Lane County, providing blood for PeaceHealth Medical Centers, McKenzie-Willamette Medical Centers and beyond.

Willamette Valley Babe Ruth teams will be on hand to enjoy the game and to celebrate a great season.

Bryan Hudson (0-0), will be making his second start on the mound for the Ems. Chris Pieters, who has been a force on offense and defense, has been a true "Jack of All Trades" for the Ems. He is batting .333 and is, so far, perfect in the field.

The Eugene Emeralds are the short-season Class A team of the Chicago Cubs. In 2015, six of the top 30 Cubs prospects spent time in Eugene including Ian Happ, Donnie Dewees and Eloy Jimenez. With 61 years, the Emeralds are the longest tenured and only founding member remaining in the Northwest League.
