Slam let fans vote for team's All-Star Game representative

January 4, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Bellingham Slam News Release

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Bellingham Slam, ranked third in the American Basketball Association with a 12-3 record, have announced that they are letting the team's fans choose which player will represent the team at the 2007 ABA All-Star Game set for Jan. 28 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The ABA announced last week that each of the league's top 20 teams would be entitled to at least one player in the All-Star Game.

Fans have three ways to cast their ballots for the Slam player they feel is most deserving of the All-Star honor. Fans can log on to www.bellinghamslam.com and vote online, in person at the ballot box located at the Slam's offices at 1200 Lakeway Drive, or at the Slam's next two home games next week, on Jan. 10 and 13. As a special incentive, five fans who vote for the winning player will receive official All-Star Game t-shirts from the Slam.

After the first day of voting, forward Mike Parker is leading the team with 48 percent of the vote. Parker is one of several players particularly deserving of the All-Star honor, leading the team with 30 points per game.

The Slam take on the Tijuana Dragons in Tijuana, Mexico tonight at 7 p.m. as they open a three-game road trip. Their next home action will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 10 at Whatcom Pavilion at 7 p.m. as they welcome the Carson Buzz to town.
