JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville Sharks announced today that defensive lineman Skyler Skersick and linebacker Terence Gavin have signed with the Jacksonville Sharks for the 2017 season.
Terence Gavin (5'11", 265) will enter rookie season with the Jacksonville Sharks. Gavin attended Wesley College in Delaware, where he recorded 103 tackles, 13 for loss, five sacks and 3 forced fumbles.
During his collegiate career, Gavin played in 14 games, racking up 34 tackles, eight for loss and three forced fumbles. In 2012, Gavin had a breakout junior year, making the Div. III All-South Region Team, starting in all 12 games as a defensive tackle. He finished the year fourth on the team with 53 tackles, with four for loss and 2 sacks. During the NCAA quarter-finals against Mary Hardin-Baylor, Gavin had a season high nine tackles and finished the year as the team's improved defensive player.
Gavin is a native of Vauxhall, New Jersey where he played football and track/field at Union High School. During his time at Union High he earned First and Second-Team All Union County Defensive honors, was a two-time Union High School MVP and named a team captain in the North vs. South Jersey All-Star game.
Skyler Skersick (6'3",270) will enter his first season with the Jacksonville Sharks and his second season in arena football. In 2015, the defensive lineman was assigned to the Philadelphia Soul and later the L.A. Kiss but never saw action in the 2015 season.
Skersick attended Southern Charleston University, where he combined for a total of 27 tackles, four sacks and a fumble recovery. He played in 11 games on the defensive line and landing 13 tackles, four for a loss and record one sack during his junior year.
Skersick is a native of Orlando, FL where he attended Boone High School. During his time at Boone High he recorded 90 tackles and ten sacks during his senior year. He was selected to play in the All-Central Florida All-Star game where made two sacks.
