May 5, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release

Rich Dorman, Masao Kida and George Sherrill combined to toss a two-hitter as the Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 2-0, Wednesday night at Cheney Stadium.

Dorman (2-3) started the game and went five innings to earn the win, striking out four and walking three.

Elvis Pena singled with one out in the fifth for the SkySox. Choo Freeman had reached on an error and went to second on Pena's single. Freeman was caught off third after a passed ball by Bryce Terveen and tagged out by the catcher after a rundown.

Kida retired the first six batters he faced before Freeman doubled to lead off the eighth. Freeman again made it to third on a groundout by Jorge Piedra, but Jeff Baker flied out to end the inning. Sherrill struck out the first two batters he faced before getting Ryan Shealy on a comebacker to end the game. Sherrill picked up his third save.

Tacoma's bats didn't have much more success against Colorado Springs starter Wilton Chavez (0-1). Back-to-back two-out doubles by Wiki Gonzalez and Mike Morse brought in a run in the second inning.

The Rainiers added another run in the sixth, again rallying with two outs. Chris Snelling doubled to right field off Chavez and Abraham Nunez came through for Tacoma with a single to right that plated Snelling and sent Chavez to the showers. Zach McClellan pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.
