Six Whitecaps Named to MWL All-Star Team

COMSTOCK PARK, MI -The Midwest League announced today that six Whitecaps players were selected to the league's annual All-Star Game on June 23 in Clinton, Iowa.
First baseman Ronnie Bourquin, second baseman Brandon Douglas along with pitchers Casey Crosby, Jared Gayhart, Mauricio Robles and Tyler Stohr were among those selected to play in the game. Bourquin was selected to start at first base.
Bourquin is batting .317 with two home runs and 29 RBI this season and has currently put together a nine-game hitting streak. Douglas is tied for fifth in the Midwest League with a .335 batting average. He has also tallied 17 RBI and seven stolen bases.
The Whitecaps boast the most pitchers on the Eastern All-Star Squad. Crosby is having a stellar season after missing most of last season with an injury. He is 4-0 with a 2.83 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 47.2 innings of work. Robles is leading the league with 70 strikeouts. He is 4-3 with a 3.91 ERA.
Gayhart and Stohr have been anchoring the Whitecaps bullpen this season. Gayhart is 2-2 with a 1.83 ERA. Earlier this season he fired 16.2 consecutive scoreless innings. Stohr leads the team with seven saves and has put together a 2-1 record with a 2.13 ERA.
Both the Whitecaps and the Great Lakes Loons lead the Eastern All-Star team with six representatives each.
The Whitecaps kick off Wendy's Tiger Fridays with a tribute to George Kell tonight during their 7:00 p.m. game against Great Lakes.
