Alaska Aces News Release

BOISE, IDAHO - Peter Sivak stayed hot, scoring twice in the third period including his league-leading 6th game-winning-goal of the season, and Tyler Ruegsegger tickled the twine twice to lead the Alaska Aces over the Idaho Steelheads 5-3 Wednesday night at the CenturyLink Arena.

Kevin Carr made 27 saves to win his 4th straight game.

The Steelheads opened the scoring at 13:08 of the first period. Will Merchant banged in a rebound of a Jefferson Dahl shot for his 6th goal of the season. Also assisting was Anthony Luciani.

The Aces would tie the game at one when Ruegsegger found a small opening between Steelheads netminder Phillippe Derosiers and the short-side pipe. The goal was Ruegsegger's third of the season, with an assist to Justin Breton.

In the second period, Idaho would take a 2-1 lead on David Glen's third goal of the season. Assists to Luciano and Joe Basaraba. However, Ruegsegger had an answer again for Alaska, snapping a quick wrister through a crowd, top-shelf past Derosiers. His 4th goal of the season was assisted by Ben Lake and Garet Hunt.

Tied at 2, the Aces would take their first lead of the game in the third period.

Sivak took a no-look backhand pass from Tim Coffman and chipped the puck past Derosiers at 4:46. The goal was Sivak's league-leading 14th of the season.

Brandon Trook (1) tied the game for Idaho at 8:27, before Sivak's heroics.

Sivak whistled a wrist shot top-left corner through a Tim Wallace screen at 17:02. The snipe was his 15th goal of the season, second goal of the game, and 6th GWG this season. Coffman and Marc-Andre Levesque assisting.

Sivak now has a five-game goal scoring streak, with 8 goals scored in that time. His 15 goals leads the ECHL.

Danny Moynihan (6) would seal the win with an empty-net goal at 19:31, with Derosiers pulled and an extra attacker on the ice due to a Sivak high-stick penalty.

Alaska killed the threat, and ran its winning streak to 6 games, and moved into first place in the Mountain Division.

The Aces outshot Idaho 47-28 for the game. Alaska was 0-3 on the power play, Idaho was 0-2.

The Aces and Steelheads will play again Friday and Saturday at 5:10pm AST in Boise.
