Colorado 14ers News Release

DENVER - December 17, 2008 - The Sioux Falls Skyforce used a lockdown defensive effort to knock off the Colorado 14ers 99-98 at the Broomfield Event Center Wednesday night. The Skyforce moved to 7-2 on the season with win, and became the first team hold the NBA D-League's highest scoring offense under 100 points in a game this season.

In a game that featured 20 lead changes, Sioux Falls was able to throw the last punch in a toe-to-toe battle. Rookie Gary Forbes knocked down two free throws with 4.5 seconds left to give the Skyforce a one point lead, then blocked Eddie Gill's last second effort to win for Colorado.

"It could have went either way with that call at the end on Eddie," said Skyforce head coach Nate Tibbetts. "The two teams didn't stop battling for the whole 48 minutes."

The Sioux Falls defense held Colorado to just 37% shooting on the night, and 24.5 points below their season average of 122.5 per game. Forbes scored 17 of his game-high 26 points with a perfect 6-6 shooting performance in the first half. The backcourt duo of Carl Elliott and Gary Ervin each added 17 points in the Skyforce win.

Colorado was led by Sonny Weems 24 points in the loss. Eddie Gill had 23 with seven rebounds, 10 assists, and two blocks, and Cheikh Samb added 10 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots.

The 14ers next travel to Tulsa to take on the 66ers Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. MST. Sioux Falls returns home to host the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Friday night.
